"Hi guys I have just come back from the MOT test centre where I was failed due to the windscreen wipers not working. They gave me 5 minutes to try and fix it but no luck. All the fuses have been checked and rechecked and seem fine. The problem has been on and off in the past and they usually kick in after about 10 minutes driving. I put the windscreen wipers on on the way there and they worked but they turned the car off as soon as they got it. Any ideas? Thanks "

"could be numerous things if its not the fuses it could be the stalk? does the stalk feel like it engages ok? failing that look at the windscreen wiper motor for corrosion or damage or just wear. other than that mate i would follow the wires back from the ignition to the motor maybe a spit or damaged wire along there. failing that id say auto electritian! lol"

"When I was at the garage I was wiggling the stalk and it felt fine. The problem has been solved now though. I realised that the wipers actually go through the relay as they have an intermittent setting! So I checked them all gave them a wiggle and now everything works fine. Now all I have to do is grovel to my mate at the garage to spare me 5 minutes to get my MOT Cert. "

Well I gotta wait until Wednesday goes until she goes through again but the rely is still slightly temperamental. Luckily I do have a friend with the same model so I may ask them for their rely just for the MOT

"Wednesday morning tries the wipers... nothing. The relay is still temperamental. Once the ignition is on the work until it is off then it needs another wiggle for the next time the key is turned or nothing. So I guess If I turn up to the garage with them working he will try them and pass me. I pull up outside his door leaving the car running with the wipers on and walk up to him with a big grin on my face. Just like this He walks up the car and turns it off O' here comes a fail but they worked! Haha so now I have a nice green certificate and a whole year to tamper with her One advisory notice was issued which was the rear nearside bearing has slight play but that's a tapered bearing so just have to tighten it a little."
