The Lotus company is a british brand company based in Norfolk. Originally named Lotus Engineering Ltd in 1954, the company began producing racing cars and sports cars, whilst also acting as an engineering consultancy. This side of the company provides
engineering developments to other car companies. Lotus is commonly known by its connection to Formula 1. Lotus was among those who engineered the design of adding wings to the car to increase downforce and moving the radiators to the side of the car to increase the aerodynamics of the car.

Lotus Carlton
The Lotus Carlton was a Vauxhall Carlton Saloon upgraded by Lotus cars into a Type 104 sports car. The main differences in the new style were the rear spoiler, air intakes on the bonnet, the considerably wider wheel arches and the Lotus badges on the front wings and boot-lid. Other modifications included an upgraded engine to a capacity of 3615 cc, twin Garrett T25 turbochargers and a six-speed manual ZF transmission which was used to transfer its power to the rear wheels.
Lotus Eclat
Produced between 1974 and 1982, the Type 76 and Type 84 Lotus Eclat was a front engine rear drive coupe based on the Lotus Elite but with a fastback body style offering more practicality with storage.
Lotus Esprit
A sports car produced by Lotus from 1976 to 2004, the Lotus Esprit was first unveiled t the Turi Motor Show in 1972 as a development of a stretched Lotus Europa chassis and replacing it in the Lotus model line-up during the late 70’s.
Lotus Europa
The Lotus Europa was a two-door mid-engined GT coupe built between 1966 to 1975 by Lotus Cars. It was designed and built to be an embodiment of the philosophy of automotive design: ‘Simplify, then add lightness.’ A minimalist steel backbone chassis, first used with the Lotus Elan was used whilst also relying on the fibreglass moulded body for structural strength.
Lotus Excel
Built between 1982 and 1992, the front-engined, rear-wheel drive Lotus Excel was based on the earlier Lotus Eclat but using many Toyota components including the W58 manual transmission, driveshafts and rear differential. During its lifetime, if received two major upgrades, once with the introduction of the 180bhp/134 kW engine and again in 1989 with the appearance of 15 inch OZ alloy wheels similar to the Esprit’s.
