"Ok after abit of advise here and im sure this will become a usefull topic for others looking for similar info. I know my gearbox is on the worn side there is a faint whine (although this could be the diff) and it just doesnt feel overly clever! so i want to check the oil levels and maybe change the oil to try prelong the longlivity of the box. My car also has as LSD as standard so i would also check this whilst im on it now how do i go about checking the gearbox oil? and diff oil level? secondly how exactly do i change the gearbox and dif oil? is there a bung like there is on the sump as you would with a engine oil change? or are you required to take the gearbox off as i dont think i would be feeling that confident going that far into it!!"

"Well james on subject of changing oil yes should be a bolt/nut (you know what i mean) located on bottom of gearbox. Remove to drain(obvious i know) and also should be another almost exactly the same but situated higher up to refill. On subject of filling i had same question when doing RS. so i set about making my own device... see Pic Made with hosepipe and butchering two watering cans And you or anyone else who is going to be doing any gearbox oil changes are more than welcome to borrow.. And on subject of what oil to use i've always been told to get/use the thinnest oil i could. (like knats piss) Hope this helps Update. Pic of my gearbox with fill and drain holes "

"Not a problem cost an arm and a leg not to mention the hours of head scratching. Yes i have L.S.D and as far as i'm aware it sits in it's own viscious liquid"

"you'll have to check on the O/C for exact levels for example the coupe takes 2.15 litres . and its a totall fudger to fill as after about a litre it just runs out. so i also have a homemade device but using fuel pipe. but the internal diameter is so small it takes around an hour for it to be filled to the top "
