" Not a happy bunny......The RS has now decided she wants to be part of the Red Arrows.... Started to chuck out loads of blue smoke I'm hoping it's the valve stem oil seals as only happens when on idle or backing off slowing down for lights traffic etc... Bit of a shi##er really as the people behind me now seem to leave 2-3 car spaces...think they expect me to detonate and make them late for work... Arseholes lol But anyway does anyone know or can recommend a decent reliable garage/mechanic???? Had two quotes so far. Best engines have given me two quotes. First:- If i leave car with them and do all work ie head off new cam belt gaskets re-grind valves etc. _Ǭ£600 Second:- If i remove head myself and leave it with them it'll be (quote) a couple of hundred... Not being the richest person in the world woundered if anyone knows someone or can recommend someone... All comments welcomed..... Plus needs to be done before July 31st..... so no pressure....."

"Defo not turbo mint on boost etc just when backing off and slowing down..... Now got to the point of taken off the road and sat in garage Not at all happy about this but no way can i drive with the amount of smoke pouring out on both idle and slowing down for traffic lights.... But on the plus side well sort of anyway taking a drive through to Wakefield on saturday to a company called Freak-Speed Engineering so hopefully may be able to diagnose my problems..."

"this doesn't sound like the valve stem oil selas. i dont think they would go just like that . i'd second a turbo problem though. but even if it was thats a disgusting quote. you can do it without taking the head off its tricky but can be done i have a guide (for the pug but the theory is all the same) all you need is a compression tester a compressor. a valve spring tool (plunger type) and some valve stem oil seal pliers you can lend the last 2 off me if you want. and if its the place near b&q i'd be very wary. they nacked a m8's skyline up whilst doing the clutch . let us know how you get on "
