Well in january I got a GTR33 for 7k thought cool decent bargin but to my un trained eye later on i found out it was not a bargin. After a month of driving i was hearing knocks bangs and just noises that cars should not make. So I got myself a set of Tein suspension to cure the bad ride i was getting and general knocking on speed bumps etc. When removing old suspension I noticed the mess this car was in To start with the back right suspension struct had collasped rusted right through so had the lower arm and all the bushing down there knackard then the left was almost the same. get to the front and this is were the fun started I saw on top under bonnet aome rust showing through paint so i got a wire brush out and though i would tent to this aswell any way the rust was deep and bad then i found filler (body filler) on the top so i started to remove this unill to my shock the whole front of the top mount area was just filler about 3inch gash wide and went down to the lower front. this was aweful i new then this car was a wreck and i had been stung no way should it have a valid mot or out rang company were i bought it and they said sorry we have changed hand nothing you can do. Any way after speaking to a few guys I was told yes you can weld it up but have to do a full weld and remember it is always going to only be a temp job needs replacing eventually so I welded it all up put it some 3mm steel and re-skined it over. so now its sorted and ok but rest is just as bad cleaning up with wire brushes etc find out the brake lines need doing and then the worst to come there is a 17" gash in chassis rusty to hell and a 6" gash just next to it running along from back right wheel along the skirt. So out with the angle grinder and cut out all the offending material girinding away with wire brushes etc back to nice bare metal works out i have to fill a gap about 2-3" wide by 17-18" long this was a set back again made some phone calls and told yes can weld chassis just needs to be a full weld and strong. So out comes welder and metal before that i got some black spray sealent and shoved the nozzel onside the gap and sprayed it all over inside the chassis for about 10mins then I cust some 5mm plates and started welding in now very nice strong and sucure all painted and sealed too. So Next up was inside ripped out interior to be amazed there was only a few patches of rust not bad though sorted them pretty easy. Next week though I have to sort the arches the guy who owned this car before me had a good idea of cutting the arches with snips and beding back with plires thus splitting paint and causing rusty arches so I am going to roll the arches propley and smooth and re-paint. Then on to a huge list of mods to do next weekend 1) rear left hub and bearing replace 2) Fit new HKS Silent Exhaust 3) De-cat 4) Header pipes 5) New Radiator 6) New Coolant hoses 7) Boost Controller (greddy profec II) 8) Pillar Pod 9) Boost Gauge and Exhaust temp Gauge 10) Sort rust out on boot near rear badge 11) Sort rust out on front left suspension mout top 12) Fit Oil Catch Can 13) Tidy engine bay 14) General service 15) Paint few thing bling in engine bay Dann

So the work has begun. Friday got home from work about half 5 ish and the skyline was at side of house waiting for me. so jacked it up on to 4 axel stands and set about stripping the bad stuff off. Finding new areas as I go that need attending to. The exhaust was standard untill got to the end were the guy in japan had chavtastic weleded a back box on with shat welding and a patch job on it half way down. been blowing good and propper. then the headers from turbo down look like they had been pepple dashed and was split blowing again with some sort of wadding being pushed out. any way came off well and is now as one long unit in the garden. The gear box were a sensor plugs in is leaking fluid out been like this for a while so got that to attend to while under there. Same as another nice rust spot on chassis but not too bad. The guard around the fuel tank is rusted through and needs replacing or a new one making either way am looking for one. There are two motor like things at the rear of the car behind the back bumper on left hand side these are a mess rusty flaking things what are they and what they for ? The oil was drained black pee water came out okies. oil filter jammed on though. The rad came off ok has a leak in lower right side so dumped it ordered a new one. same with some hoses (purple from sfs whoop) Coolant was nice and green suprised. The bar at bottom under rad is rusty needs attention etc. Then getting the turbos off what a hell of a job I thought working on a gto was a pain. Anyway after taking pics and assesing what all the pipes were for (and coating everything in peneration fluid) I set about removing them. induction came off easy intercooler pipes off easy etc. then water pipes those small buggers across the top what a job they were to get off and move but suceeded. The how to get the turbo off the manifold undo the bolts to turbo and pipes then the bracket underneath and oil pipe. turbo moves but not come out cannot get to all the manifold bolts either hmmm looks thinking do i have to remove the aircon pump looks like might have to is catching. anway decide against that i get cloths and bung up all the wholes and then my fav tool the angle grinder comes out new disc and i cut huge V shape intop of manifold then pull tun the old cast manifold snaps and off it come no fuss great satisfaction and turbo ok engine ok. undo rest of bolts to turbo and remove rest of manifold. Turbos in ok condition cermic blades look ok and not much play in bearings either. One thing though the intercooler pipes had oil inside them is this correct ? I took some pics but this site not let me host them for some reason unknown. will take more pics tomor for now the others come out blurred. Dann

Also noticed while cleaning the wheel up my tracking must have been out the tyre on front left inside is showing the cork wire no rubber left so ordered 2 new tyres today too 348 quid later lol. roll on tomos now. got some welding to do tomor of the top mount the rust has caught it there have cut out the bad all ready but now got to weld in some plates to make it back good. then fluids rest of intercooler and apexi induction. then can take her for a test drive. Well she is running now at 1.5bar boost once i get her on the rollers will see the full bhp but it must be around the 400 mark she just pulls and screams lol. Will post pics this weekend but one hell of a set up now and i just need to do the valve stem seals as a bit of oil is burning but not much. once that done then can concentrate on the heads and poss up it to a 1.6mm gasket which will lower the compression ratio and can run higher boost. Also new stage 3 clutch and light flywheel. On it goes going to be a beast by end of year lol Dann
