cheap car

Hey guys whats up new to the forum and have a question for you all. I just moved out to Texas for work and to finish school so of course I am on a very tight budget. I've been contemplating my next car and am looking for suggestions as to what you guys believe would be the cheapest car to build. The most bang for your buck when it comes to speed. I don't really care for them but a honda civic seems like a good reliable option. I thought maybe a 240 and just sticking with the ka but with the increasing popularity of drifting they are going up in price a bit. Possibly a miata? The only problem there is a complete and utter lack of space. Any suggestions guys?

not 100% sure on car prices in the US sadly but you cant go far wrong with a civic small light cars and the engines are near on bomb proof
