Alfa Romeo SZ

Car Reviews » Alfa Romeo » SZ

The Alfa Romeo SZ, (Sprint Zagato), was built between 1989 and 1991 and was a high performance limited sports road/concept car. The car was unveiled as the ES-30, (Experimental Sports Car 3.0 litre), at the Geeva Motor Show in 1989. It was planned that only 1000 of this model would be produced. 1036 were actually produced, with 100 models being exported to Japan.

The SZ was one of Alfa Romeo' most controversial cars. Some loved it, some hated it. It was known as the 'Il Monstro,' (Monster), by some. The car was based on the Alfa Romeo 75, both engine wise and mechanically. The styling and aerodynamics was based on the 75 V6. There was only one official colour scheme: red with grey roof and a brown tan interior.
