Fiat Cinquecento

The Fiat Cinquecento was launched in late 1991 to replace the Fiat 126 and was launched as the new Fiat city car. The Cinquecento was eventually replaced by the Seicento in 1998. The Cinquecento was only ever launched in one body style, a small angular 3 door hatchback. It featured a number of style and manufacturing advances to its predecessors. These advances include independent suspension, side impact bars and galvanised body panels to prevent corrosion.

The model is small and nibble. This means it is easy to manoeuvre around town and is easy to find a parking space. However, the advantages of the size of the vehicle are counterbalanced by the Cinquecento feeling light weight and as though it might crumple at the slightest of impacts.

The interior is spacious in the front for the front passenger and the driver. There is ample head and leg room in the front; however, this has a negative impact on rear passengers, who may feel cramped, especially on long journeys. The Cinquecento is a practical run about car, but its noisy interior at high speeds make the ride uncomfortable.
