The Aston Martin Virage was the replacement for the Aston Martin V8 models and was launched at the Birmingham Motor Show in 1988. The Virage was launched as the successor to the Aston Martin V8 Vantage. The Virage is available in a 2 door and a 4 seater coupe. The design of the Virage was based on the Lagonda. However, Aston Martin did make some changes to the design of Lagonda. The Virages chassis evolved from the Lagondas chassis. The Lagondas chassis used a de Dion rear suspension and the Virage uses an aluminium A-frame design. Aston Martin used other designs from other makes and models. They used the headlights from the Audi 200, the taillights from the Volkswagen Scirocco and the dashboard from the Ford.

The Virage is a large and heavy car. Aston Martin used their traditional combination of aluminium over a steel frame and was hand built. The interior is covered in wood and leather, deep pile carpets and comfortable seats. Extra features include heated seats, air conditioning and heated front and rear windows.
