BMW X3

The BMW X3 was based on the BMW 3 Series E46 model and is a compact crossover SUV. BMW launched the X3 as a concept car at the Detroit Auto show in 2003. The X3 was not well received by the critics. The model was criticised because it relied on plastic components in its interior and it was argued that the model was overpriced. Over the years, BMW have worked to change the problems with the first X3 released.

The X3 uses the BMW xDrive four wheel drive system that helps to ensure the model has excellent traction for both off road and on road drives. The xDrive system senses that a wheel is slipping and applies more power to the other 3 wheels to ensure the car keeps moving. The X3 is also fitted with hill descent control. This makes driving off road downhill a lot easier and safer. The system ensures you tackle hills at the right speed. Excellent body control and good steering ensures the model corners well.

The model is comfortable for the front passenger and the driver. There is good head room and legroom in the rear to fit two adults. However, there is a lack of shoulder and foot room that means that the centre seat in the rear is only really suitable for children. This centre seat does fold down to become an armrest. There is a large boot, which can be extended by folding down the rear seats.
