The Ferrari 328 GTB and GTS were launched as the successor to the Ferrari 308 GTB and GTS in 1985 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. The GTB refers to the Gran Turismo Berlinetta coupe body style and the GTS refers to the Gran Turismo Spider Targo top. The 328 figures in the name of this model refer to the 3.2L, 8-cylinder engine. The design and styling were largely based on the design of the 308. By the time Ferrari stopped producing the 328 in 1989, there had been only 7,400 328s produced. The GTS proved to be more popular than the GTB.

The 328 revealed a new exterior design compared to other Ferraris. The differences were made to improve the aerodynamics of the model. The new designed the font of the car being given a new softened look. It was designed with a more rounded nose. This was complimented with a more rounded rear end. The size of the front lid radiator was also increased, and new stylings to the door handles were also introduced.

The interior was styled on the 1984 GTO. The dials have black gauges with an orange backlight. New designs on the rest of the interior were introduced in an effort to keep up to date with the changes made to the exterior.
