The Ferrari Daytona was also known as the 365 GTB/4 and was produced between 1968 and 1973. It was first launched at the Paris Auto Salon in 1968. The Daytona replaced the 275 GTB/4 and was itself replaced by the mid-engined 365 GT4 Berlinetta Boxer in 1973. In 2004 the Daytona was voted top sports car of the 1970s by the Sports Car International Magazine.

The styling of the Daytona uses a Pininfarina design as with many previous Ferrari models. However, the design of the Daytona resembles a Lamborghini more than it resembles a Pininfarina. Early Daytonas were designed with fixed headlights behind an acrylic glass cover. This style of headlights was abandoned in favour of retractable pop up head lights. This was due to safety regulations that outlawed headlights behind covers. The Daytona is based on the chassis of the 275 GTB, however, the Daytona has wider tracks front and rear.

The cabin is well designed, with the driver in mind. There are hammock-type seats fitted as standard. The seats have fixed backrests but will tilt through various degrees to allow the driver and passengers to choose the most comfortable sitting position. The view out of the cabin is, however, restricted. This is due to the upward sweep of the bonnet. The driver can only see the crown of the offside wing of the car. This will make parking and manoeuvring difficult. The driver will be become used to the lack of visibility through practice. Rear vision, on the other hand is excellent.
