Ferrari Enzo

The Ferrari Enzo was built in 2002 at the Paris Motor Show, and is a 12 cylinder mid-engine berlinetta. The Enzo was named after Ferraris founder, Enzo Ferrari.

The technology used to build the Enzo was based on the Formula 1 technology. The carbon fibre body, the electrohydraulic shift transmission and the ceramic composite disc brakes used on F1 cars were used on the Enzo. However, extra technologies that the F1 models were not allowed to use on their vehicles were used on the Enzo. These included active aerodynamics and traction control. The design of the exterior of the car was designed so the wings did not impinge of the aerodynamics of the model. The doors, which are front hinged scissor doors, extend into the sills of the car. This makes getting in and out of the car a lot easier. However, as the door wraps over your head almost to the mid roof of the car, you have to be careful not to slam the door onto your head when closing it.

The design of the interior is as impressive as the exterior. The steering looks and feels like a steering wheel out of an F1 car, in that the steering wheel in the Enzo has a flat top. The seats can be moved backwards and forwards for comfort. However, the driver and passengers can customise how they sit in the car by choosing from one of four widths for the seat back and bottom of the seats. This adds to the comfort of the car. Even though the seats are close together and the windshield is narrow, the cabin feels spacious.
