Saab originally manufactured airplanes, then in the late 1940s the company sought ways to diversify and began manufactureing cars. The first car was manufactured in 1947 and was called the Saab 92001. Saab soon developed a good reputation for safe and reliable cars due to their good previous history.

Mid 1950s Saab then ventured into the computer industry and heavily into aeroplane navigational equipment. In the 1960s Saab had created several successful and advanced systems and they continued to do well in the computer and aeroplane navigational equipment.
In 2000s General Motors had purchased 100% ownership of Saab. Since becoming a wholly-owned subsidiary of General Motors Saab became the exclusive automobile royal warrant holder as appointed by H.M., the King of Sweden. Since its inception, Saab has become very well known for turbocharging, “quirkiness”, safety and green technology.
