jack the car up so wheel is off floor and see if you can wobble wheel with both hands. it there feels like there is some play in it 1. check your nuts r tight lol 2. means your bearings are shot. and need replacing FAST. as if they go completely your wheel will fall off then your ed

well if you hit a hole it may have damaged shock too. possibly. that may cause a clunking noise i recon. might be the bushes you have damaged. they r cheap to repalce too. id say worst case would be the actual shock absorber itself has ed up might cost a lil more but nothing drastic

all the older ones have a torsion bar setup you have 2 shocks and as phil says most likely the bearing if your increadably unlucky could be the axle but i very much doubt it

"my car is 5 year old and hs torsion bars lol but yeah there are shock absorbers there too. it isnt difficult to damage the axle if you hit something right. but if it is your axle your looking at £411 minimum for a new one. http://www.sspengineering.co.uk/ Fingers crossed its your bearings though fella. mine cost me £30 and that included fitting"
