The BMW X5 was first introduced in 1999 and is a luxury crossover SUV. The model features all wheel drive and is available in either manual or automatic transmissions. The manual option was dropped from the 2006 model and onwards. BMW stated that the X5 is actually an SAV, (Sport Activity Vehicle), to emphasize the modes on road ability.
