The Daihatsu Sportrak was produced from 1987 to 1998. The Sportrak is known by several other names in different countries. In Japan it is known as Daihatsu Lovibond Rocky and Daihatsu Feroza in Australia and other parts of Europe.

The Sportrak has been reported to have been prone to performance problems due to poor air induction. This can be improved slightly by removing the air filtration system fitted by Daihatsu. However, this is not recommended when the vehicle is used for off road journeys. This is due to the engine intake of water. To overcome this, a snorkel has to be fitted to the vehicle. This is usually run up the passenger’s side pillar.

The regular versions of the Sportrak has a hard top. The roof section is removable from the drivers head rest to the front of the car. The rest of the roof from the drivers headrest back can also be removed. There is not a long list of added extras that come with this vehicle. There is, however, a inclinometer and a voltmeter. The interior is spacious in the front, but it is a bit of a squeeze in the back. This can make it uncomfortable, especially on long journeys.
