fiat gearboxes are shocking. but in general though fiats are high performance car. not racing cars. so if ur guna rag it and shift gears alot then its bound to go...hence why the clutch always goes.

"or get a car so you dont have to trash it everywhere a nice v8 or summit should do the trick i have to admit even though im a fiat owner fiat is babylon my old bravo had 3-4 new gearboxes soley for the fact the center rod kept sliping and then slowly the cogs would just fall out haha first sign was always speedo would stop then slowly youd loose ya gears till like me your driving back to york from the far north pinsular of north wales having over a 500 - 600 mile journey home with only 3rd gear haha oh the good ol' days "

"sadly the 1.6 gearbox is very poor and renound for problems as i know im not the only one on www.fiatboo.co.uk to have gearbox issues in the 1.6 just take it gentle mate and if you get chance get a uprated one or be really brave like some one off boo and they fully rebuilt the gear box and swapped certain cogs with the punto to give better power in certain gears! but i would have a clue where to start with that one lol i think it was ash g but dont quote me on it"
