Think of it this way - if you took your car to a garage to have the battery replaced they would disconnect it if you took you car to a garage with an electrical problem they would disconnect it...
ah i get ya now so in theory each time i take it to a garage and they disconnect battery to weld for instance. they basicly reset my ECU?

sounds like grounding
well i asked him what he used and apparantly it was this gadget that connects to both neg and pos of battery and theres a block inbetween the wires that he said when welding it stops it doing something and also its so you dont have to disconnect the battery and lose al your settings
