"I have had many exhausts on my diesels and what the exit looks is only a part of the package. The construction of the exhaust can provide a very loud aggressive petrol like sound or a quiet one with just an enhanced look. At the moment I have a straight through exhaust no CATs and no scilencers. The exits are quad (two on each side) chrome pipes and the noise level is no different to a standard car. If you goto a good exhaust manufature and tell them what you want they should give you the look and sound you ask for. Shop around and don't pay more than 400 quid unless you are getting sports CATs put in."

"sod the sports CAT! gut the baxtard! been spending alot of time on www.mg-rover.org and there loads of people tuning diesels people hav had de-cats go thru the MoT fine aswell as having bigger injectors along with a nice CAT back and big cone. also most people up the boost at about 19psi as this is the safe limit for the standard turbo. Heat soak from the cone isnt a problem due to the intercooler. some people like ""MAD"" have got nearly 180bhp out of theres. But with the exhaust just make it nice and free flowing as you dont want it huge twin pipes or an oval would look good. SJ "

Wow 180bhp that um... The standard boost on most modern diesels is over 19psi some can be in the high 20s. My little 1.9CDTI kicks out about 220bhp with the Water/methanol running and will crack 0-60 in under seconds. Diesels are far from just ecconomy motors these days.
