"My brake pads seem to be on the low side. as when im braking i can hear a slight rubbing noise. and upon looking there so look rather thin. Now when i first got the car just under a year ago i took it for a brake check and i was told that my discs are very slightly warped. and that should i ever change my pads. they would reccommend i change my discs. I was wondering with it only been a 1.4 and not all that powerfull would i be best to just raplce the discs and pads with standard ones or would i be better off getting some better ones? I did buy some pads a while back and they were the wrong ones and the shop wouldnt let me return them. so got some new pads here that dont fit my car. lol and i dno what car they from or will fit...."

"i'd ignore everything they said at the brake check as i'm 99% sure they are after your money.(allthough it sounds as though they've advised you and not tried to rob you) cos your discs were warped and when they got em off your bottom balljoints were worn and track rods and then your cv boots were split on both ends (you get the picture) do you feel judder when you brake? however so slight? if no your discs are fine. but usually i just go on wear. is there a lip? as for pads you need to find out which system your car is on lucas bendix(rectangular pads 2holes in the top) or girling (look a bit like a space invader no holes just locating lugs)"

"well lol. the garage i went to said they were ever so slightly warped. he even showed me and pointed out a quite large lip on the disc. he sgested the discs were the original from when the car was made. He then sugested i could get some fairly cheap discs from ebay or any car spares shop and could easily fit them my self. so i dont recon he was trying to get my money. As for when im braking its hard to tell. i dont realy pay attention. but there is a lip on the disc. and my pads. i dont have a clue johny ill have to look tonight. "
