"Ok before you all start i know i seem to have endless problems with my car. but let me point out. that ive ahd this car 15 months now. and the problem below is the only fault ive had with the car.... everything else was self inflicted. me crashing bending stub axle. parking in the wrong place and getting run into alloys not fitting and other bits i did my self. right. heres the problem.... Sunday morning i head out to pick Emma up. i get in car and set off along street. now this is a mistake in itsself as my car hates been cold and will cut out if not left to watm up... anyway i got to end of street stopped looked and went to set off. as i lifted clutch the car engine cut out (i did not stall it) and the car jolted forword 3 times. i started it back up like you would do. and ever since then ive aquired a very annoying clicking/rattle/grinding what ever it is.... When im accelerating everything on the car is fine. no noises. the second i take my foot off the throttle there is a rather loud clicking sound (like the sound you get if you put a lolly pop stick into a bike wheel or a pen into the blades of a desktop fan) this clicking sound gets louder and faster if i get faster and gets quieter and slower if i slow down (still with foot off throttle) the gear change is still perfect and the clutch doesnt feel any different if i press the clutch in while moving and not touching the throttle the sound is still there just very very quiet. But the second i press the throttle the noise goes away... had the car up on axle stands where me and my cousin had a look and listen (yes i had the engine on in gear and wheels turning in mid air) and the noise sounds like its coming from the gear box. Ive asked around and most people are saying its either my clutch release bearing a cog which i have sheared or something to do with the fly wheel. but none of these people are mechanics or very literate with franch crap lol. Ive got it booked into garage sat morning and im using works van for this week. just wanted to know what anyone else thought. and how much i may be looking at..... "

What you said is what I thought. Obviously its something to do with the drivetrain but its narrowing it down what it could be... so many working parts that can fail!

i wouldn't release bearings means gearbox out if you can get that for 30-40 quid (might get your bits for that mine was _Ǭ£28.)then show me where . lol i'd check driveshafts. if the noise goes completly when your clutch is pressed whilst stood still then its quite safe to say its not the release bearing. if it does go whilst stood still then its also safe to say its nothing on the drive side - wheel bearings/driveshafts/gearbox etc etc etc.. let us know. johny"

1. i dont rev it i know what happens when you rev. i said i set off and it cut out. 2. i dont have a diesel.... its a 1.4 petrol. 3. yes everything seems fine just that bloody noise. Taken it to garage on Sat morning. great guy he is. known him a while. he said he cant do anything at this stage as i might just waste my money. as in he takes gearbox off. goes gets it looked at. they dont find a fault. puts it back on car still making noise. and im _Ǭ£250-_Ǭ£300 out of pocket. so hes suggested i run it untill it gets worse. or even goes then go back to him to get it fixed. either way im looking at _Ǭ£300+ money i dont have. so looks like when shes does go she will be parked up for a loooong time :'("

"my old 106 had been thrashed to within an inch of its life and the bearing was the noisiest i've ever heard on anything . this was 3 1/2 half years ago and its still not gone. because there is no real prolonged pressure on it i doubt it will go. something else will go 1st IMO most likely cable. "
