"ok i was driving to day and yeh if i admit i gave the car abit of welly and well now the accelorator pedals flat on the floor?? :S does this mean the cables snaped?? "

as phil says if its floppy then id say yeh probably is i remember doing that on my 1.6 it was a bitch to get through the engine bay as the cable went round the back of the engine

Pedals return to idle position via the pedal spring. The throttle cable doesn't hold the pedal in any postion. Next time your in the car look under the foot well

it was the accelerator cable! mine was slightly different to that one youve got a pic of dazzi it was some sort of bung that attached onto the top of the pedal leaver and that had worn through and came loose was only £12 was a bit of a nightmare to fit but got there in the end cheers for the tips and hints tho guys
