"ok this seems to be a very mixed vibe from alot of people so i thought i would ask everyone elses oppinion. obviously there are dump valves and recirculating dump valves. Now ive read alot that a recirculating dump valve is best because it simply uses the pressure to help the turbo spool up faster and prevents turbo stall however i have also read that a normal dump valve is better because it releases the pressure to protect your turbo and stops it from it from building up friction and so causing filings to enter the engine though the intake and some people have been saying the dump valve mearly causes turbo stall and will cause serious damage. As i have a baileys dump valve on mine this sort of concerns me a little so what are your thoughts oppinions and experiances?"
"standard fit? leave it be otherwise thenyou have abit of a dilema but i cant really see how it could build up friction so long as you have oil + oil pressure if there was any real friction then it would go pop pretty damn quickly or give you blatant signs that it was kaput!"
"This is a age old argument by many i doubt it will ever be settled. a basic bov can cause turbo staling hesitation worse gas mileage idle problems lean/rich fuel ratios it wont cause serious damage as you put it but your car would run much better if its 100% recirc. its been proven to many times. your other option is a 50/50 worx valve i have one of these the rs at the moment its recomended by many scooby owners and so i fitted it into mine. baileys dump valves arent the most reliable valves so it maybe wise looking for a better quality bov. hope that helps"
"excuse me being daft here but on the top of my bov it does have a pipe out of the top and it looks like it goes back to the turbo feed? so could this mean its a 50/50? or...... heres a pic of the bov so you can see it. "
"yours looks to me (baring in mind the picture is small so i appologise if im wrong here!) but that looks like the Baileys DV26 as it has the 3 way exit at the top? this wont be a 50/50 bov i wouldnt be overly concerned really james its one of those life long arguements i cant see it causing problems if you like the ptsh noise then keep it i loved it but after a year or so i guarentee you will just find it annoying and want a 100% recirc valve and even with a recirc valve if your running enough boost you will still get chatter and a faint ptsh but it sounds more like a quiet wastegate on a bus if ever you have heard one. "
"I'd have to say BOV/Dumpvalves are good...lol... F ing love mine...lol Never been a fan of them but got one and i love it.... BIG KID "
